The French Property Exhibition at Wetherby Racecourse opens on 19-20 May, and promises to be an informative day out for any potential French home-buyer. There will be hundreds of properties to browse, here’s a look at some top properties for sale from leading Estate Agent, Leggett Immobilier.

Finistère

With almost 5,000km of French coastline, there’s something for everyone, from long sandy beaches to dramatic headlands, and small fishing villages to glamorous resorts. At the very eastern tip of France, the département of Finistère is aptly named, meaning ‘end of the earth’. It also lays claim to being the ‘most coastal’ department of mainland France – its 1,250km coastline makes up almost a quarter of the entire Brittany coast.

Close to the coast between Roscoff and Morlaix, this spacious five-bedroom house is in a lively village with a bar, restaurant and supermarket. Although habitable, the property would benefit from updating and offers lots of potential for anyone seeking a permanent family home or a holiday getaway. It comes with a good-sized but manageable garden and a large gravel drive with room for a garage if required.

On the edge of the beautiful bay of Morlaix, the property is surrounded by sandy beaches and pretty villages, offering plenty to do all year round. The popular town of St-Pol-de-Léon is 7km away, and access is easy too, with Roscoff ferry port just 12km away and Brest airport 47km.

Lot-et-Garonne

With so much traffic clogging the UK, it can be offputting to see a property that opens straight onto a road, but remember that in France streets tend to be much quieter. Take for example, this charming three-bedroom townhouse with two garages and a spectacular roof terrace. It’s in the bastide town of Montflanquin in Lot-et-Garonne and has uninterrupted views over the countryside. Despite its beautiful facade and interior, some buyers might skip over it because it’s on a road, but this is actually a very quiet street only a stone’s throw from the main square and only a few steps from the boulangerie, bars, restaurants and shops.
